Mindfulness: Episode 8
Today I’m going a little rogue and talking about my personal journey to being more mindful. It’s been a tool I’ve been using lately and has really been one of the most beneficial actions I’ve taken for my overall health. Soo, take a listen below or on iTunes.
What is mindfulness? I like how the University of California – Berkley put it:
And actually, the second paragraph is where it hits home for me:
Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.
It’s really about accepting what is, at that very moment and not feeling guilty or disheartened about that decision. All too often, we beat ourselves up when it comes to our health and truly, it’s sabotaging our ability to become our healthiest self!
