New skin routine & one pot spicy ground beef hash

I’m telling myself I feel fall coming … not sure it’s entirely true with the amount of humidity that’s drenched my body this week. So sweaty. But the stores are packing their fall décor with pumpkins and spiced candles and the upcoming forecast is dipping into the 70’s this week, so I’m taking it as a sign!

I made a very fall inspired one-pot meal for my weekly prep this week. The recipe to my One Pot Spicy Ground Beef Hash is below. Enjoy!

Fun fact: my birthday actually lands on the First Day of Autumn (9/22). Proof that the fall season is in my bones.

And speaking of birthdays … I’m trying to figure out some birthday plans. What do almost thirty-year-olds (yikes) do for their birthday these days? I’ve tossed around the idea of a day-trip, maybe going to an apple orchard or winery? Honestly, I’d be totally content with a good bottle of wine and some cool, crisp air.  Does that mean I’m getting old? I sound old.

Want to know something else about me aging? The other day, out of nowhere, I became increasingly aware of a forehead wrinkle. And for the last week, it’s the only thing I see. It’s actually quite comical, because I’m sure it’s been there for years, but because my birthday is coming up, and I’m nearing 30, I feel like I should be more aware of these “aging” signs … why though?!

Of course I sent a quick (freak-out) note to my little nutrition-pod and they gave me some great ideas when it comes to skin quality.

So – for this upcoming birthday, I’m approaching 28 being kind(er) to my skin.

Here’s what I’m doing:

Oil cleansing | cleansing your skin with quality oils (instead of harsh cleansers) removes impurities, hydrates and moisturizers while cleansing the skin.  Skin feels smooth, silky and soft.

Moisturizing oil |most lotions contain a handful of iffy ingredients from perfumes to alcohol. Moisturizing with quality oils hydrates the skin more safely.

Vitamin C serum | great for wrinkles, skin quality and elasticity.

Sunscreen, hats and glasses | all the sun damage my poor younger-self suffered through, I don’t need anymore. Lots of sunscreen, hats and glasses to protect this face from here on out.

Hydration | consuming water = cell hydration = skin hydration

Rest and recovery | lack of sleep and rest (and stress!) can be one of the main causes of an aging appearance.

Quality makeup products | removing harsh, chemical-laden products and replacing with kinder, more natural makeup products. (Stay tuned for more on this!)

Happy, healthy skin – let’s do this!
