So, I had a post all typed out and ready to go for today and then I had a change of heart. More so, I had a change of focus.

I had phone meeting with a health coach yesterday. Which to be honest, I was very apprehensive about. But, that something inside me nudged me forward and it ended up being one of the realist conversations I’ve ever had with someone, out loud, about my health. I sat in my car afterwards with a mixture of emotions. I was proud that I was able to succinctly describe where I’ve been, where I am and where I want to be (without getting emotional). I was sad that I hadn’t talked about it with someone sooner. I felt at peace that someone understood what I had gone through and what I was still going through. It was amazing, frightening and uplifting all at the same time and left such an imprint on me. Which sounds silly, but that one, 15-minute conversation, with a total stranger was a conversation I’ve desperately needed to have. But too stubborn and afraid to.

The reason I sought a coach out was to get some answers and assistance. To find that missing piece. I’ve come such a long way, but the last leg was just something I couldn’t do by myself.  So the hope is to continue working with this individual, because I think it truly is the last piece of the puzzle for me and my health. I plan to document the journey, share it with you all – because I’m sure others have experienced similar experiences and I’ve found so much help in other’s personal testaments.

As I continue working on me, I want to encourage you to seek out additional help, even if you’re unsure, stubborn or fearful of the outcome. Help isn’t a bad thing. It shouldn’t be a sign of weakness or failure. It’s a step towards a more successful you. Think about it like that. You’re bettering yourself. You deserve it.

I hope to be able to share all of my thoughts when the time comes and will be tracking my journey on the blog :) So, stay tuned!

Now for the real good stuff: Chili

It’s Paleo Chili time! I’ve made this easy chili recipe dozens of times, always with some different twists (really, whatever I have in my fridge). This recipe was scrumptious. You know why? I added two new ingredients that made all the difference: Balsamic vinegar and red peppers. The combo added a tangy-sweet touch that was perfect with the heat from the chili powder. Try it. Do it. Now. I mean it’s fall, why not?
